history In the fall of 1998, 3 women came together in the search for a sisterhood that promoted women’s personal and professional development. Their intensive search lead them to another group of women who had spent the previous year looking for a sisterhood that would embrace their cultural differences and provide a supportive environment. Upon meeting, the two groups immediately realized the commonality of their purpose and united to create a sisterhood that embraced all women. They spent the next 8 months working intensively to bring their vision to life. During this time, the 8 women became so well known for their philanthropy and attention to diversity that they were nicknamed “Angels” by their campus community. On April 8th, 1999 the 8 women became Alpha Delta Rho. The Founders were: Violeta Ochoa, Marisela Huerta, Claudia Ruiz, Swapna Somayajula, Janki Patel, Clarissa Reyna, Erica Allman, and Ellie Djavid. Over the last 10
years, Alpha Delta Rho has worked hard to solidify its mission and goals, gaining strength from its members. It is unique among multicultural sororities in its professional approach to the pursuit of its principles. As a result, Alpha Delta Rho has a quickly growing network of accomplished alumnae who are currently work in the fields of: government, medicine, dentistry, law, public relations, psychology, public service, finance, education, marketing, and fashion. Today, Alpha Delta Rho continues to provide a supportive environment for women and opportunities for personal growth and professional development. Now in its 10th year, Alpha Delta Rho is embarking on its expansion program. |
